My daughters received a fortune plant as gift a few weeks ago. It’s a huge seed that has been stamped with a message. When the seed grows up out of the soil it tells you your fortune. One of ours ended up looking like this.

Fortune-Ate Fortune Plant picture growing-something

“Do you think it can bite?” my daughter asked. It looked like a big green monster.

“I don’t know, put your finger in there and see” I told her.

She said that was a great idea. As long as I went first!

It was one of those days when I realize my kids do have some common sense after all. I sometimes wonder about that.

Later, I was telling someone about it. My older daughter looked up from her gameboy just long enough to tell me that it would be good if the fortune plant bit me.

“Why’s that?” I asked her a little annoyed.

Because then you would be fortune-ate.

Apparently they have one of those senses of humor too. :)

It really made my day.

  1. One fortune had a picture of a shooting star on one side and said Follow Your Dreams. The other one had a peace sign and said Peace be Yours. We couldn’t remember which seed was for which girl because the containers were identical. We decided they were for both of them. :)

I’m not sure where they bought them. They were really neat. The seed was huge! Over and inch long I think. And sprouted very quickly. It was great for the girls to see how the seed sprouted and started to grow leaves when it was so large and easy to see. You could come back a few hours later and actually notice a change. I really liked it.
