They're much thicker, reusable bags also made of plastic. Last time I was there I was in line behind a retired couple. They we're grumbling and bitching at each other about every last little thing as people tend to do here, like "'av you got the butter" "Ooh, 'eck no, there's butter at home, if you care to look" "Alright, alright, was you who forgot it last time.." etc etc. Then the checkout girl asked "Would you like a 'bag for life'?" and the man piped up "Ooh, 'eck no love, I've already got one!"
